Description
Built to endure the harshest conditions—like a frigid North Dakota winter—the DL+ 12V 640Ah is Dakota Lithium’s most compact and powerful battery yet. Whether you're embarking on long expeditions in your RV, extended ocean voyages, or powering essential systems like air conditioners and off-grid setups, this battery delivers unmatched performance. Engineered for maximum energy density, it packs 640 amp hours of power into a waterproof case the size of two 100Ah batteries. That's 6x the usable power, making it a game-changer for replacing large marine or solar battery banks of up to 12 AGM or lead-acid batteries with just one DL+ 640Ah. With 1,000 cold-cranking amps of engine-starting power, this battery is the ultimate all-in-one solution for boats, RVs, food trucks, barns, garages, and workshops—capable of jump-starting engines while acting as a powerful house battery. It’s also equipped with internal heating, ensuring reliable charging even in extreme cold. The CAN bus communication port allows seamless integration with CAN bus electronics, making it ideal for building smart power systems. Constructed with advanced Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) technology and encased in rugged, marine-grade plastic, this battery is built for durability and longevity. With a 5,000-cycle lifespan, it lasts up to 6 times longer than typical AGM batteries, delivering exceptional value over time. Perfect for applications in marine, solar energy, RVs, and electric vehicles, all backed by an 11-year warranty. For larger power needs, the DL+ 640Ah can be linked in parallel for added capacity. One unit can replace a generator on a large boat, oversized RV, Skoolie, or off-grid cabin, while two units are ideal for most off-grid homes. For even more energy storage, four units provide 30kWh, enough to power a large 4-bedroom home with a solar array, working farm, or business.
Technical Specs
Warranty
Best in Class 11 Year Warranty. That is 10 years more warranty then most lead acid batteries.
Storage Capacity
640 Ampere hours (Ah). Dakota Lithium batteries provide consistent power for all 640 Amp hours. DL LiFePO4 batteries have a flat voltage curve, which means they have a steady power output as the battery discharges. The power output will not dramatically drop like similar sized SLA batteries. You get all the juice down to the last drop.
Cold Cranking Amps
1,000 CCA is adequate to start most boat and large vehicle engines
Energy
7680Wh
Voltage
12.8 Volts (Dakota Lithium 12V batteries can be used in series for up to 48V systems)
Size
27"L x 8.07"W x 10.43"H (686mm ×205mm × 265mm). Height is to the top of the terminals.
Weight
121 lbs (55Kg)
Lifespan/Lifecycles
Up to 80% capacity for 5,000 cycles in recommended conditions, 70% capacity at 5,000 recharge cycles. Half-life (50% capacity) of 6,000 - 7,000 re-charge cycles (Typical SLA has 500 cycles). Backed up by an 11 year warranty.
Discharge
300A max continuous, 600A max 20-second pulse, 900A max 5-sec CCA pulse. LiFePO4 chemistry has a flat voltage curve, meaning this battery will maintain a voltage of >12V for the full discharge cycle in most applications.
Charge
100 A standard charge, 300A max charge current for 60 sec A SLA charger may work, but will reduce performance and lifespan of the battery. Even heat technology allows for charging below 32'F. Internal even-heat technology allows for charging below 0°C/32°F
Operating temperature
Ideal for rugged & harsh environments. Much better than SLA or other lithium batteries. -20°F min, +150°F max optimal operating temps (battery performs well down to -20°F). Internal even-heat technology allows for charging below 32°F. BMS high temp cut off at 167°F / 75°C..
INTERNAL EVEN-HEAT TECHNOLOGY
Increases performance in extreme cold. When charging the battery in temperatures below 0°C/32°F DL's internal heating element will warm the cells to 0°C/32°F. This increases the lifespan, performance, and efficiency of the battery.
Safe & Reliable
Includes active BMS protection circuit that handles cell balancing, low voltage cutoff, high voltage cutoff, short circuit protection and high temperature protection for increased performance and longer life
Terminals and Posts
M10 Terminals with marine & automotive grade terminal covers.
Marine Grade & Waterproof
Max IP65 water resistance rating. Appropriate for marine environments, not submersible.
Certifications
Dakota Lithium's cells are UL1642 certified and have been tested per IEC62133 and UN 38.3 standards. They meet all US and international regulations for air, ground, and train transport.
ISO 9001:2015
Dakota Lithium is certified by ISO 9001:2015 for lithium battery engineering, manufacturing, and quality control. This means that the battery systems available at Dakota Lithium are designed and manufactured to the highest ISO 9001:2015 engineering standards. In addition, quality control is completed by our US based engineering team and follows ISO 9001 standards. This added layer of safety, quality, and reliability ensures that your battery will last a long, long time.
Recommended Charger
12V 50A charger. Dakota Lithium 12V batteries should be charged at 14.4 volts. Lead acid chargers will work, but will only charge the battery to 80% of capacity.
CAN bus
CAN bus communication port for connecting to marine, off grid, and automotive electronics. 9 pin CAN plug with hardware included.
On/Off control of battery terminals via external data port
Control the terminals of your pack externally, or remotely. Two analog control pins allow you to connect either or both to a (third) power pin to disable charging or discharging. Independent Charge/Discharge shut offs can be triggered by an external switch or logic controller. Shut off only the charging function, or only the discharging function, or both, and re-activate them at will. Useful in larger automated systems or local smart-grid projects.
